This month Kate headed off to Hawker and Wudinna in her home state of SA to talk farm mapping and ground cover analysis with farmers and graziers at a couple of Livestock Technology Field Days hosted by the PIRSA Red Meat and Wool Growth Program.
How refreshing for the community to be able to meet in person! Conversations were around how their seasons are going (mixed results) with most having had some summer rain, what they’d learnt from the great speaker line-up of producers, experts and tech providers including what they thought of FarmMap4D’s mapping, property planning and groundcover monitoring tools..
As always the profile tool was seen as a great time saver for plotting new pipelines and fences.
The groundcover through time was also popular, particularly with producers looking to see the impact of changed management or years of pest animal control (rabbit ripping, exclusion fencing) on their parts of their properties.
It really was terrific to be out and about and talking to users and potential users on their home turf.
Thanks to the organisers from PIRSA offices around the state and the support of Australian Wool Innovation, Meat and Livestock Australia, Livestock SA and SheepConnectSA.
