Knowledge of a property, the different paddocks and boundaries is built up over time, sometimes generations. This can lead to misunderstandings – wrong mob of sheep drenched, cattle moved to the wrong paddock, fencing contractors working in the wrong place, rippers through water pipes or lost staff.

We all have a story of being told to move the mob into ‘Old Reilly’s’ paddock which is the name of the people who owned the homestead in the paddock which has been demolished 45 years ago. These references are fine if everyone knows all the history but we tend to keep it in our heads and this can lead to misunderstandings and work getting done in the wrong place.

FarmMap4D allows you to map all of your property infrastructure including fences, roads, yards, water pipes and points, the lot – and then download this to an App on your phone – like Avenza Maps. It allows your staff and contractors to see where all the infrastructure is (and what it is called) and see where they are in relation to it.

No more getting lost.

FarmMap4D stores the information, it is easy to update if you add/remove infrastructure so there you can maintain a good, up to date map of your place.

Michael’s interactive map of Lorraine’s 240,000 hectares, on the Leichardt River just 50 metres above sea level, was vital to give more certainty to new staff that they were doing the right thing in the right place – not always easy when the largest paddock covers 15,000 hectares.

Now it’s a simple case of asking new staff to download the map app Avenza onto their GPS-enabled smart phones, and they have access to detailed topography, fence lines, stockyards, watering points and roads at their fingertips.
